Being supportive when my BF just got laid off?

My man found out today that he′ll be laid off on Friday. I′ve been really supportive and told him it will all work out. He’s smart and incredibly talented so he should try not to worry. I don’t know what else to say. I feel sooooo bad. He has two kids and all the regular stuff we all have (mortgage, bills, etc.) Any suggestions for support?

    You’ve just got to be there for him. Try to encourage him to look for new jobs and start applying. Getting laid off sucks but if he gets busy applying for new jobs, he’ll be employed again in no time.

  2. When my husband was unemployed he got totally depressed. There wasn’t much I could do to make him happy. I just did my best to stay strong and helped him update his resume.

    We had to move for him to find a job and then he ended up with 2. We were living in dead zones for jobs.

    Let him know that you’ll stand by him and do everything you can to help him out. Try to encourage him to keep looking for jobs and not to give up.

  3. Help him get a resume together so he can start looking for another job. I hope he realizes that almost any job is better than no job.

  4. help him get his resume together and find a head hunter…that way he will be busy going to interviews and stuff…so it wont give him time to think about the job he js lost…

    good luck…i know times are tough…but it will pass…stay strong

  5. Just be there to listen to him vent. That’s all you can do. Perhaps help him look for jobs on web sites.

  6. they just recently showed that movie with jim carry when he was a president of some firm an they got bankrupt and he was a scape goat and yada yada yada. u might rent a dvd and watch it together on friday evening. i think it was called fun with dick and jane.

  7. When my son was laid off (2 kids and a mortgage) he got very depressed. He’s wife was great and supportive and we all (family) reinforced how worth while he was. He worked hard, found a great job that he loves and it all worked out.

  8. Oh my i feel so badly for you as me and my son are going thru the same thing. I lost my job and now i cannot pay our $900;00 a month rent’ so he told us after 5 ys to be out in 8 days.I have not slept’ or ate and do not know where to go as we have no one.He is really sick and this is the worse thing ever’ but with God looking out for us we will be fine i guess.I had a slight breakdown even But 4 days it has really sunk in….It will get better and you all have each other’ so my prayers are with you and yours and good luck.
