No he's not a cheater, cuz baseball is a sport where cheating is allowed, just ask Gaylord Perry and Don Sutton two of the biggest cheaters in baseball made it to the hall of fame,no reason why Bonds shouldn't join them

To say "look at him on the Pirates and look at him now" is the dumbest most ignorant thing I've ever read here on YA.

Look at YOURSELF 16 years ago. I'm sure it's not exactly a mirror image.
To be fair, you have to look at his progression year by year.
If you would have said "look at him in 2000 and then 2001", and if there actually was a noticeable difference [which there isnt] then you might have a case on your hands, but to compare how much a person has changed over 16 years? Get real.

Next, look at his stats year by year. Notice anything? THEY'RE EXACTLY THE F!@#$N SAME.
The only "irregularity" comes in 2001 when he magically had 73 HR's.
Do you think that could possibly be explained because Jeff Kent, Rich Aurillia, and Benito Santiago were having the best seasons of their careers and pitchers were actually pitching to Bonds? Neither of these other guy's stats have compared to their 2001 seasons either, so should we put them in the firing line with Bonds? Why not because everyone else who has ONE GREAT YEAR, must be a cheater too, right?

Give the man his credit. He practices, trains, follows a strict diet, then prcatices and trains some more. It's a shame that people dont recognize hard work paying off anymore.

I hope all of your great accomplishments in life get brushed off by accusations that you're a cheater too.

People that are doing things they know is morally correct, don't hide it.

Ever hear Bonds explain that surge with "Oh, that's something my trainer gave me to help me heal faster, it's great"

Of course he cheated. I think that people should realize that, to be wrong, it could be against Baseball rules OR the Law

If someone felt their team couldn't win, on the last day, against Greg Maddux and losing would mean they miss the playoffs, since it's not against baseball rules to injure him, should that be ok, or would that be considered cheating?

He cannot be considered a cheater. When the allegations of steroid use came out, it was well after his alleged use occurred. If he did, it was when steroids were not banned or considered illegal. If he is using now, that's illegal and he's guilty, but he's testing clean.

I think that this issue is just a horse that was beaten way too much by children and the media. The younger generation only believes what MTV and the media tells them and common sense does not apply to kids nowadays. It's just like hearing a false rumor at school and then abusing that person by sticking your tongue out, laughing at them and calling them names.

Look at Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmiero and Jose Canseco, for instance. Nobody is crucifying them although they are in the same boat as Barry Bonds. Why is Barry being singled out if those players and others did the same thing? Not giving interviews and brushing reporters away is a weak reason to abuse Barry Bonds, nor can the lies about his "attitude problems" be proven.

He's an extremely nice and caring person, from my experience of meeting him and seeing him once every two weeks at work when he visited a co-worker of mine. He cares about children, elderly, corporate types, common blue collar workers and everyone in between!

I think people should just read between the lines, forget about the asterisks because what he did was not illegal at the time and that steroids will not help anyone hit HR's.

If a majority of the other players took steroids during that ear, does that still make Bonds a cheater? How can you call somebody a cheater when: a majority of other players were doing the same thing AND, most importantly, there were no restrictions in place to reprimand a player for these actions?

In the most simplistic sense, Bonds was exploiting every legal advantage he could within the confines of the baseball world.

i believe that he has taken some sort of supplement (willingly/or by accident)...that's the only logical explanation of how he bulked up...it also explains his soft girlie voice...but Bonds is a good ball player nonetheless

No. Cheating entails doing something illegal. Now although what he hypothetically did was illegal in terms of U.S. law, taking them is not illegal, only possessing them is against the law. He has not been caught in possession of steroids.

Now in baseball terms, what he hypothetically did was not against baseball rules. They did not penalize for it until recently. So my answer is a big fat NO!

I agree. If he gets in the hall of fame, then they need to put in Pete Rose immediately. At least his stats and accomplishments are legitimate.
