Can a person be allergic to Silver Sterling?

And some moderate swelling on the palm-sided skin that subsided a few hours after I removed the ring. The ring has been engraved and might have left some dust, but the ring has been under running water several times already. I’m afraid that one day I might not be able to wear a wedding ring XD.
