How can I restore autographs on a old baseball?

ian d asked:

I recently got an old autographed baseball from a friend at work. The ball is from 1970 and the autographs are barely visible. Is there any solution I can put on the ball to bring them out so I can actually read them?

not really, but you need to get them in an air-tight container ASAP. check with a local sport collectors store and they might know a trick or two.

  2. NO !!!

do not try and bring the signatures back , this will affectively ruin the ball

put the ball in a protective case and keep it out of the light as much as possible

  3. I am sorry to say no. It will only damage the ball and smear away the autograph. The best way to keep it in good condition is get a ball holder and display it where you can see it.

  4. For the love of all that is good, DON”T DO A THING. Get one of those protective plastic cases and keep it out of strong light. If you do anything to “restore” the signatures, give it to the kids down the block to play with, because it won’t even be worth what a new one is.

  5. first, you get a sharpie….

  6. just try copying them onto a new baseball exactly the same way, then when you get good at it do it more often and sell them to other people
