Is a vote for Obama just a vote against George Bush?

Army Dirt mover asked:

If this is even partially true, it is most illogical. Putting Obama in the White House is like promoting a private to a General or making a medical student the CEO of a large hospital. Being young only means you have not made a lot of mistakes yet. Live and learn and the longer you live, the more you will learn.
Get over the obvious. A vote for Obama could just be a protest against 8 years of George Bush.

  1. No.

Bush isn’t running, remember? Using your logic, a vote for anyone is a vote against George Bush.

  2. No, President Bush is not running for election in 2008

  3. Following the same logic, doesn’t being old mean you’ve made too many mistakes? I don’t care one way or another which democrat gets into office, but I will vote for them (whomever it is) because a vote for a Democrat is a vote against a Republican, and we’ve had too much Republican already. War needs to stop and our money needs to come back and put our economy back on top where it belongs.

  4. I am not a supporter of Obama, but Bush has nothing to do with this enection cycle EXCEPT to get rid of Republicans!

  5. Obama , if elected would be the same age as Clinton was, on taking office (47) and just about 4 years younger than Bush was. He looks younger than that, but was born in 61.

My vote for Obama is for Obama, Bush does not enter into my thought processes when making that decision.

  6. Dont worry, Obama voted for a reauthorization of the Patriot Act, only calls for withdrawing combat troops from Iraq( which still leaves a very large occupation force) will not pledge to have all troops home from Iraq by 2013, and he proposes no policy changes towards Iran just a change in rhetoric, which is not a policy change at all. Obama to me seems a lot like Bush he would just spend more domestically and slightly less overseas.

He appears to be a protest against Bush but his voting record and his plan for Government arent all that much different from Bushs.

You must do more than listen to his campaign speeches to get a feel for what his presidency would be like.

  7. Actually in the South a vote for Obama was a vote against Hillary…it will all be very different in the General Election…I know many, many people in Georgia who crossed over and voted for Obama, just to get rid of Hillary, and will vote for whoever is the Republican in the General Election…People who actually think that any Democrat has a chance are just fooling themselves…Obama may have won, but more Republican votes were cast than Democrat, and a good many of the votes for Obama were, like I said, just to get rid of Hillary…
