There is no specific indicator as to when Flash memory will overtake hard drives as the storage medium of choice.
I will say that for the smaller flash drives, the cost is cheap. But for the larger modules, it is ridiculously expensive.
You can get an 8 gig flash drive for ~$50US if you are lucky, but for about $60 you could get a 320 Gig hard drive.
In other words, it will be a while before flash memory is that cheap.
