should the person who got laid off, or underemployed be without health insurance?
BROWNSKIN4U2C2 asked:
As it is now if you are laid off, you have the option to pay into their health care plan, but your unemployment benefits aren’t enough to pay the premiums. Are Republicans saying that they should not be covered by any health care plan?

I don’t think so, everyone should have the right to health care. the system is so unfair right now and only benefits the very wealthy.
NEVER use COBRA unless you absolutely have to because of pre-existing conditions. It is WAY more expensive than going out and finding your own insurance. I’m pretty sure if you were to go out and find your own, you could cover the cost.
When I was kicked off my parents insurance after college for a short time before finding a job, I had the option of paying $300/mo under my old plan for COBRA, or $60/mo under a different plan that I found on my own.
Not all people have health insurance all their lives. Most of them work and earn enough to pay for it. I understand that there are situations that cause people to lose their insurance, but on the other hand, no one promised every sole in the U.S. that they government would furnish them insurance. I didn’t know that it was a god given right.
It is a very tough question and a worse answer.
Everyone should have health care.
Yes, I am saying that. Why should somebody else pay for you to have anything? I suppose if you get laid off you think tax payers should pay for your home, car, and whatever your heart desires.
Health care is not a right. Yes it would be great if every one had a health care plan but again IT IS NOT A RIGHT. I am self employed and pay way to much for health care. However, I made the choice to buy health care instead of a new car or a gold chain or designer clothes.
It would be great if every one owned their own house. Should we tear down all the apartment complexes and build every one a new house paid for by the govt. What about a Corvette that would be nice, a right? NO Maybe the government should pay for every one to take a vacation. The reduced stress would be great for our health?
Get real. If you want health care stop going to starbucks, stop wearing $200 designer jeans, eat at home once in a while, swap the SUV for a fuel efficient car and Buy your own health insurance.
PS: Health insurance or not. Go to an emergency room and they are already required to help.
My suggestion is trying to get as much resource as you can before making final decision, here is a good one.
