Take an RC car on the plane?

anasasisxenophontis asked:

I have a gas powered RC car that I’d like to take with me on the plane. Obviously I wouldn’t take any of the fuel or oil, so there would be no liquids whatsoever. I know that sounds like a 12 year-old’s kind of question, but will the airlines allow it?

  1. should allow it on the checked luggage, as long as the tranmitters are off, and no fuel. Fuel is considered hazmat, and not allowed.

  2. interesting concept,,,fue you plan on take the remote on board also??? my guess is tsa will either be to ignorant to this fact, is it clean and no smell of fuel… Now here is a scenerio, what if your remote is in the on position. Newer aircraft actually have servos on them as well , so i wonder if there will be any effects

  3. Sorry to say that if the RC car is the fuel type and not the battery type then you most likely will not be able to take on the plane. There is no fuel operated items allowed on the aircraft. Even if you empty it it still will smell of fuel and oil. Even if you never put fuel in it they most likely put fuel in the engine and tested it at the factory. So once they smell that then you will not be allowed to take it unless you remove the engine.
