What player has had the biggest impact on baseball?
Owner asked:
Who?
Who?
I would figure Jackie Robinson had a huge impact on the game itself. That is just my opinion. Nobody else has a “baseball” day dedicated to them.
Who do you think it is?
Why?

Jackie Robinson sure had a big impact. There are many other players who have had a big impact on baseball. Roberto Clemente was a poor Puertorican who wanted to play baseball in the Bigs. He dedicated himself to playing and when he got there, he didn’t forget his backround. He always returned to Puerto Rico not just to get ready for the next season but also to give something back to his country. Kids from all over came to see him give practices and coach, he spent time with the elderly, with the less fortunate, with the poor. He died giving back to Nicaragua because of an earthquake.
I think Roberto Clemente should have his day also.
Oh yeah, and he is one of two Major League players who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in less than the five years required after “retirement”.
Sure Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier but if you’re going to look at that you need to take a good hard look at Roberto Clemente, the first latin ballplayer too.
I’ll say Babe Ruth, no player has drawn the attention that the Babe did. Every kid wanted to be the Babe. Every offensive record in jeopardy since his era has been compared to him. Heck, the guy had more homers in a season than entire teams (1927).
A close 2nd but in a bad way would be Bonds, the poster boy for the “steroid era” of baseball.
