What should I do this summer to prepare for next year’s baseball tryouts?

I am looking for some suggestions. I have a whole summer ahead of me to prepare for high school baseball tryouts. I would like to eat healthier and lose a couple pounds. I need some tips.

  1. work on your fielding, go to the cage a lot and basic workouts.

  2. First of all, Work on your skills every two to three days, so like sunday, wednesday, saturday, monday, friday etc.

If you have access to weight lifting, do lots of leg work, but don’t over do it. Go light weight for awhile to get the teqnique down, then lift heavier.

Do sprints to help with speed. Push ups make your rotatoer cuff stronger, which makes your throwing better.

After playing, run for about a mile to increase your stamina.

Warm up alot before beginning your work out. Always run and do lots of stretching before hand.

If your feel any pain in your elbow or shoulder, STOP and rest a few days.

Use Ice after playing, 20-30 minutes.
Use heat to soothe your muscles the day after playing.

    Don’t overwork yourself.

  3. Running will help your game in many ways, as well as losing weight.

Other than that, work on the stuff you aren’t that good at, whether that be batting, fielding, catching grounders, etc.
