If your boyfriend is taking his teenagers side of this issue, I'd say you have a bigger problem than whether or not the music is too loud. Suddenly the reasons for him being a single dad become clear...

So you already tried a compromise, that was good. How is your relationship with him? Is this the only big conflict you have with him? I can understand how you would be annoyed with the noise, it is very understandable but he probably tunes you out anyways if you have to tell him 25 times a day.

What you need is another compromise. Talk to him and see what you can get to. Try and take him seriously, maybe the game is his escape or helps build confidence. GOOD LUCK.

Your house, your rules. I would talk with the boyfriend about the problem. Apparently he doesn't seem to be showing any empathy to your problem. The boy sounds like he doesn't have any respect for you. Your hearing is probably more acute than theirs and they need to be made aware of this. Dad needs to be on your side on this one and put Jr. in his place. Or you need to put Dad and Jr. in their place. Lay down some ground rules about the game system. Dad will have to agree to it and if Jr. doesn't follow them then take the game system away. If Dad says anything about, beat him with one of the controllers. Don't do that. Dad is just going to have to back your play on this one.

Hey, what I DO!! I take them controllers away if they can't respect my wishes. Strait up!! Respect Me, and you can have the game, if you don't respect my wishes of keeping the game at a low volume, than it's mine. Period. No discussion!! No you are not overreacting. Those games and the noises they make are plain annoying. Right now, my sons can't play their gamecube or the gameboy for the same reason. We will try again in a couple days. If they still don't get it, theu lose the priveledge again!

I think you're probably being fair, but I'm not sure you'll benefit from picking this fight, if your bf will not be on your side.

Can you get some headphones for yourself and listen to music? That's one of the arguments the boy probably will make: "Why can't she be the one who wears headphones?"
