What word do they say in the beginning of most fighting video games?
SVTStangStud asked:
I noticed that most fighting games always start with somebody saying “Ready?” “Fight!” but I am trying to figure out what words they use in the Japanese versions of the game. Instead of saying it in English they say some other word for “Ready?” I am not sure how it is spelled but it sounds like eekuyo or something like that, maybe ikuyo. I heard it in Kill Bill Vol.1 one too just before she kills O-Ren-Ishi at the end of the movie but I can not figure this word out.

I believe they do say “ready” and “fight” in English.
They say, “Ready, FIGHT!”
“ikuyo” (female) or “ikuzo” (male), literally means “go”, something like “are you ready?” or “get this (attack)” before fight. However, most of fighting games just use English Ready Fight. Judo or Kendo use a word “hajime!” but I think it’s also rarely used in video games.
