Some Goodwill affiliates take old computer parts -- I know there is one in Austin, Texas that does. However, they ask for a small donation for monitors, since they usually aren't repairable and it actually costs the organization to dispose of them in an environmentally-friendly way.

I seem to recall that had a list of organizations that accept old computer parts and other electronics.

I will tell you to never send your comp to someone else as it has personal information in it that some can take. As for the monitor, Cali pays alot for glass in pounds. Heck open up a business and see if people are dumb enough to give you their comps.
