Which parts of the computer is copper and which is just crap?

TòM! asked:

I′m collecting copper so that I can make something and I′m trying to get it out of some dead computers that were given to me. Which parts of the wire is crap and which is good and how can I melt the copper into a liquid?
What temperature?
What do I use?
Etc.

  1. ok first of all, the price of copper is not high enough to be worth the effort you will have to put forth your better off just going to a computor parts store and giving it to them for 20 bucks.

but back to your question you will have to use a melter to get a tempeture of 1083.4±0.2 º C and once you have that the impurites will float to the top and you can scoop them off.

all of the chips have copper but like non of the actual wire has copper. so just melt all of the chip scraping. the scrapings will come from the copper like lines on the chips that you scrape off.
