Why is it very offensive to wear a purple dress and gold flats in Munich, Germany?

adriana v asked:

I wore a very appropriate purple babydoll style dress with gold flats today in Munich, Germany and it made people VERY angry. I’ve seen other purple dresses and other gold shoes but not worn together. I think it is that color combo that is very offensive. Why?

  1. Are you sure it was how you dressed that upset them?

Maybe they weren’t looking at you offensively. How did they look at you? If you give a little more detail, maybe we could help :)

It could be like mourning colors, like after someone close to you died.

I think someplace near Japan or something blue is like a mourning color.

Maybe they were mad cuz nobody closed to you died and you were wearing those colors.

  4. Purple is not a mourning color in Germany.
Purple is A. the color of feminist women, and B. the color of the catholic church.

However, I do not believe, that such interpretation was done at your sight. Nor does the combination of gold and purple have any significance.

It must have been something different than the color. Perhaps the the style was awful. Or something you have said or done.

  5. i would say that they were offended by the slinkiness of the dress’s style not at all by the colors you had on.
