You go through the broker, and the broker goes through the clearing house. No, you can not go directly through the clearing house, becasue you are not a finanical insituttion. And, as a benfit of being a client of Etrade and the such, they do extensive research and have much more information than an individual can find on the internet, and most importantly THEY CAN ADVISE YOU on what to invest in. LICENSED BROKERS are the only ones who can advise and charge for that service. That's all I'm going to tell you.
